I still reach for you
in quiet moments—
in the soft hum of morning light,
in the way the house settles at night
like it’s remembering you too.
Your hands—
they held more than mine.
They carried stories,
seasoned with laughter and tears,
stitched into every meal,
every hug that lingered just a little longer.
You taught me that love
doesn’t leave when a body does.
It lingers—
in recipes I try to get just right,
in words I hear in your voice,
in strength I didn’t know I had.
Some days, the missing is loud.
It echoes in empty chairs
and silence that feels too big.
But even then,
I feel you—
in courage, in kindness, in grace.
If heaven has gardens,
I know you’re there,
hands in the soil,
smiling that knowing smile,
